This guide will explain the new geofencing and proximity alert features in the web portal, designed to help you manage site sign-ins from the mobile app.
Setting Up Site Proximity Alerts
-
Accessing Site Settings:
-
Log in to the web portal.
-
Navigate to the "Sites" menu on the left.
-
Select the site you want to manage and click "Edit."
-
At the top of the site edit page, click on the "Settings" tab.
-
-
Enabling Proximity Alerts:
-
Locate the "Site Entry Proximity Alerts" section.
-
Check the box labeled "Enable 1km proximity check for manual site sign-ins via the mobile app."
-
Understanding the Setting:
-
When enabled, the system checks if a user is within 1 kilometer of the site when they manually sign in via the mobile app using the GPS Sign-In button.
-
If the user is outside this radius, a silent notification is triggered.
-
Important: Sign-in still proceeds regardless of the user's location.
-
Google Maps Dependency:
-
The alert will only trigger if the site address is recognized by Google Maps or if the site has a geofence.
-
If the address is not recognized (e.g., for new construction sites), the alert will not function.
-
Adding a geofence to the site can resolve this issue.
-

-
Geofence Map Functionality
-
The Geofence map tab, allows for the drawing of geofences like before. The size of the geofences does not matter, and they can be drawn as needed.
-
Configuring Employee Notification Settings
-
Accessing Employee Settings:
-
In the web portal, navigate to the "Employees" menu on the left.
-
Select the employee whose notification settings you want to adjust and click "Edit."
-
On the right hand side of the screen, a side menu will appear. Select “Notifications” from this side menu.
-
-
Enabling Manual Site Entry Proximity Alerts:
-
In the notifications settings, under the "Sites" grouping, find the "Manual site entry proximity alert" option.
-
Check the box to enable this notification for the employee.
-
Understanding the Notification:
-
This notification triggers when a user signs into a site via the mobile app while located outside the 1km radius.
-
This notification will only be sent to the employee if the “Enable 1km proximity check for manual site sign-ins via the mobile app.” setting has been enabled within the site settings.
-
Notification Recipients:
-
If enabled, the selected employee will receive notifications when users sign in outside the 1km radius.

Key Points
-
The 1-kilometer proximity check is designed to provide awareness of sign-ins from outside the expected area.
-
Sign-in is not prevented, even if the user is outside the radius.
-
Google Maps address recognition is crucial for the proximity alert to function.
-
Geofence creation is done within the geofence map tab of the site edit section.
-
Employee notification settings allow you to customize who receives these alerts.
By following these steps, you can effectively use the web portal's geofencing and proximity alert features to manage site sign-ins and stay informed about user activity.
