• The difference between owning and contributing to the register.
• How day-to-day responsibility is shared.
• When to revisit ownership.

What to prepare

Check who already has permission to manage Assets, and agree which sites, contractors and equipment types your register will cover.

Recommended sequence

Name the accountable owner

A company administrator, or a named plant or equipment manager, takes overall responsibility — creating Asset Types, approving new records and checking accuracy.

Agree day-to-day contributors

Site managers update maintenance, inspection and location details from the field, while health and safety managers maintain safety-critical flags and linked incidents and observations.

Tip

Set a recurring reminder to check ownership is still correct — role changes and site closures are the most common reasons a register loses its owner.

Next implementation stage

Once ownership is agreed, prepare the information you need before adding assets.
